The Palace Inland Train line was dusty and dark but glamorous. But that’s how Baby Girl would describe every place she had ever stepped foot into, that’s how she would describe her Aunt Em.
She was eavesdropping – she was always eavesdropping – and put together that the Knights of Consequence were hunting vampires, and specifically the Lost Sisters of the Royal Divine Bloodline, whose bodies had never been recovered after the UnCrowning. She knew that the UnCrowning was when the Royal Divine Bloodline was overthrown for being scary bloodsucking night walkers, and everyone in All The Lands was free. Cities were free from the Money Sucking Matriarchy and became their own.
And she pieced together that Aunt Em was suspicious that someone named Viktor had murdered her Aunty Lee, so they had to go.
Arthur had traveled with Baby Girl and her family, and he also called everyone Aunt. He whispered to Baby Girl that his full and secret name was Arthur L. Lee. She knew they had both come to the same suspicion, that maybe Aunty Lee was Arthur’s Mother, and that somehow they were involved with the Lost Sisters of the Royal Divine Bloodline.
She had questions about her own connection to the family. Arthur L. Lee had no answers for her. But they both followed their mysterious family onto the train machine that traveled faster than any wind or sea animal either had ever seen with their own eyes. Neither knew where this machine would take them.
